Paula's Chronicle
A random and growing collection
- Paul and Alpha Palmer Celebration of Life August 9, 2015
- River rafting
on the Tanana River in Denali National Park, Alaska. June 2004.
- The ever changing crew
I worked with at LWTC--Nghia, Yolanda, Ellen (library technician), Tatyana, me and Jeffrey (Director)--
in the technical services office.
Another showing longtime work study students Tatyana, from St. Petersburg, and Mariya, from Chernobyl. Yet,
another
with (R)Hilary, Ellen, me, Mariya, Tru, (F)Ping, Jeffrey holding Calvin, someone whose name
I've forgotten, and Seythour (Calvin's Mom).
- Dracunculus vulgaris. A Mediterranean plant the previous owner left in the yard. Also known as dragon lily because the shape of the leaves resemble the feet of dragons. It is a carrion flower that attracts not bees but flies for pollination. Since this picture was taken, the plant has grown dozens on stalks and produces dozens of flowers--along with the accompanying smell.
- Four generations: Moms (Alpha, Colleen, Gloria) and Dads (Paul, Phil, Ryan). Grandma Colleen and Eva Noel Miller born December 11, 2001. April 2002.
- Julia's portrait of me. At my left is the letter Z wearing a hat.
- A not-so-recent photograph of me, May 2001.
- Family photograph taken by Kit in November 2000.
- My favorite photograph of David having tea on our honeymoon while in Victoria.
- Longtime friends Jim, Sue Ellen and Joel and Vicki.
- Russell, my eldest brother who died August 2000. His love was living the "mountain man" lifestyle. This charcoal was displayed at his memorial.
- Photo of me and Peggy on graduation day, Chimacum High School 1972
.
- Me in 1970 or 1971 walking beside the aluminum-roofed shop in front of the apple tree that had seven different kinds grafted onto it. Behind is the tractor on which I learned how to drive and the corral beyond that.
- Maple tree that grew by the corral. We had to stand on top of the highest rail and stretch to reach the limbs to climb into the tree.
- All seven in 1961. I was seven years of age.
- My sister Colleen and brother Aubrey holding our German Shepherd puppies Rusty and Rinny [short for Rin Tin Tin], respectively, and me holding one of our many orange cats in 1961. Looking toward the south garden. Facing the opposite way looking at the backside of the house with Russell, Colleen and Aubrey, circa 1960. In the distant background can be seen the newly excavated pond
- Front and backside of family Christmas card taken in Joe Reese's living room in 1957.
- Brothers Aubrey and Russell and me in the south garden in 1956.
- Front and backside (showing Mom's writing) photo of Dad and me taken at the Breedlove farm in Oklahoma in 1955. You can see the source of my ears.
- The house in which I grew up built in 1898 by the Guthries--homesteaders of the property. It was constructed on the west side of the farm and moved by oxen about 1/4 mile to this position. The walls were made of 8" handhewn cedar logs. The upstairs window on the left is the one we would climb out of to clamber across the roof in order to climb down the cherry tree at the far right.
